Many happy returns, Babita!

Today marks the birthday of celebrated actor Babita. Having worked in more than 300 films over the years, the internationally acclaimed artiste is a household name to this day. Babita, who has been away from the silver screen for a while, enjoys gardening in her spare time.She is not celebrating her birthday in a grand way this year. “I have no specific plans for today. My son and most of my loved ones are out of the country right now, and many of my relatives have gone for Hajj,” Babita informs The Daily Star. “Special birthday messages from my son and relatives will be enough to make my day.”

Babita also spoke fondly about the best birthday memories of her childhood, stating that her parents never missed out on getting cakes, sweets and new clothes for her on her special day. “I am thinking about my parents. Things would have surely been different if they were alive today,” she says. “Looking back, I am also grateful to Zahir Raihan and Satyajit Ray, two filmmakers who played important roles in my success as an artiste.”
