Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a 13-year-old in Narayanganj yesterday noon.

The arrestee, Abu Kamal Shikder, 45, is a mason. The victim is a fifth grade student of a local primary school.

Shahin Parvez, officer-in-charge of Siddhirganj Police Station, said that the accused lived as a tenant at the victim’s house. The teenager’s mother is dead and father is disabled.

Taking opportunity of the circumstance, the accused supposedly raped the victim, she added.

The minor was again raped on Tuesday afternoon. The victim’s uncle found her crying at home and after his insistence to know the reason, she disclosed the incident to him.

The victim’s uncle filed a case with Siddhirganj Police Station, and Abu Kalam was arrested in connection with the case.

The OC said, the child was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for medical test. The accused has been sent to Narayanganj court.
