Youth hacked to death

A youth was hacked to death at Chandpur village in Harinakundo upazila of the district on Monday night.

The victim was Aslam Hossain, 20, son of Aynal Hossain of Hakimpur village in the upazila.

Police and locals said Sayed Hossain of Chandpur village and Raza Malitha went to attend a waj mahfil (religious gathering) at the village. All on a sudden, the duo locked in an altercation over a trivial matter.

At that time, Aslam came forward to pacify them and was hacked by Sayed. Critically injured Aslam was rushed to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
