Poushkali fair begins in Jashore

A three-day fair started on the premises of Gadkhali Sarbajanin Kali Mandir, a 400-year-old temple in Jhikargachha upazila of Jashore, centring traditional Poushkali Puja yesterday.

The traditional fair, with arrangement of nagordola (merry-go-round), shops for sweetmeats, cosmetics, furniture and handicrafts including daily necessities attracted a large number of people.

The organizers say that the fairs have been organized for hundreds of years.

Gadkhali Sarbajanin Kali Mandir, meant for people from all walks of life,  is situated beside Jessore-Benapole highway, a few hundred metres from Gadkhali Bazar.

Visiting the area in the afternoon, devotees were seen worshipping, some giving donations.

Many people were busy shopping from stall at the fair.

A good number of children as well as adults were enjoying rides in nagardola.
