Deer hide, venison seized

The Coast Guard recovered 10 kg of venison, a deer head and hide from Mirgamari Canal area of the Sundarbans yesterday, said a press release of Coast Guard.

The seized venison, head and skin were handed over to Chandpai Forest Office for legal action, said Lt Abdullah Al Mahmud, operations officer of Coast Guard's West Zone in the Sundarbans.

“A section of poachers active in the Sundarbans hunt deer and sell its hide, head and venison, which threatens the natural balance of the forest. The Coast Guard will continue drives for protecting wildlife, checking smuggling and maintaining law and order in areas,” he said.
