Kid burnt alive as house gutted

A minor boy was burnt to death as a devastating fire gutted his house at Raghunathpur village in Sirajganj Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.

The victim was Imran Hossain, 6, son of Malam Sheikh of the village. The fire broke out when the boy was sleeping in the house.

Deputy Assistant Director of Sirajganj Fire Station Md Abdul Hamid said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at the house of Malam Sheikh around 11:00pm when the family members were asleep. The fire spread rapidly and gutted the entire house.

All the family members except Imran managed to escape from the fire, Hamid said, adding that the fire fighters, on information, rushed to the spot immediately and brought the fire under control within half an hour.

Imran was burnt alive. Later, the fire fighters recovered the charred body from the house.
