ASI arrested with yaba pills in Sitakunda

An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) was arrested in Sitakunda yesterday for allegedly possessing 10 yaba pills.

Locals held ASI Mosharraf with the yaba pills in his possession and later informed police, said Delwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda Police Station.

Mosharraf, stationed at Karnaphuli Police Station under CMP, was visiting his home in Purba Bakkhali area of Sitakunda for his passport.

A case was filed in this connection and police will look into whether personal rivalry played any role behind the incident, the OC added.   

Confirming the arrest, Deputy Commissioner (Port) Hamidul Alam of CMP said, “He [Mosharraf] was absent from his work on Monday... departmental action is underway against him...”
