Mainul lands in Rangpur jail

Barrister Mainul Hosein was brought to Rangpur yesterday for producing him before a court today in connection with a defamation case filed for slandering journalist Masuda Bhatti on a television programme.

He was sent to Rangpur jail immediately, after a team of police arrived with him around 5:30pm, said Jailer Amzad Hossain. He would be given division facilities, he added.

Police would produce him before the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate today. Safi Kamal, a lawyer for Mainul, said they will file a bail petition with the court.

Mainul was arrested on October 22 in Dhaka in the case filed in Rangpur the same day.
