ASK concerned over border killings

Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) in a press release yesterday expressed deep concern over the recent killings of Bangladeshi nationals by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along different bordering areas of the two countries.

On Saturday, Bangladeshi citizen Rabbani, 25, was killed as BSF shot him on Kantivita border under Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon. The same month, on October 14, another Bangladeshi, Mamun Rashid, 30, was shot dead by BSF on Dana and Lobha border in Kanaighat of Sylhet, ASK said.

Such continuous killings by BSF, despite their repetitive assurance of discontinuing the use of firearms on the border, are regrettable and a violation of international rules, ASK said, hoping that the Bangladesh government will take a tough stance against the killings of Bangladeshi nationals and create diplomatic pressure on India in this regard.
