Farmer killed in Gopalganj clash

A man was killed and 19 others were injured in a clash between two rival groups over a disputed land at Dakkhin Fukura village in Gopalganj's Kashiani upazila on Monday.

The injured were admitted to Gopalganj General Hospital and Kahiani Upazila Health Complex.

The deceased was farmer Hiru Mia Sarder, 45, son of Osman Sarder alias Irfu of the village.

Critically injured Hiru Mia later died on the way to Dhaka.

Police and locals said there was a longstanding conflict between Harun-ur-Rashid Mollah and Siful Islam Shikder of the area over the land.

As a sequel to the conflict, both groups, equipped with lethal weapons, attacked each other on Monday, leaving at least 20 people injured.
