Two children raped

A six-year-old child was raped by a teenager in Jessore's Benapole while a fourth grader was violated by a youth in Gaibandha's Gobindaganj upazila on Monday night.

The six-year-old child was raped at Baropata village under Benapole Port Police Station.

The incident of rape was known yesterday morning, said local Union Parishad (UP) member Mohammad Momin.

Momin said the child was raped allegedly by Ibrahim Hossain, 19, on Monday night as she went to Ibrahim's house to watch television. The girl was given treatment by a local doctor, Momin said. He said details could not be known as the incident occurred in a remote area.

The UP member said locals are trying to resolve the matter themselves.

Sub-Inspector Jahirul Islam of Benapole Port Police Station said they are unaware of the incident.

Meanwhile, a fourth grader girl aged about 10 was raped by a stalker at Parail village in Gobindaganj Upazila on Monday night.

Police arrested rapist stalker Abdul Alim alias Angur, 24, son of late Ahsab Ali, the same night.

Quoting the victim's family members, Gobindaganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Majibar Rahman said Alim called the girl out of her house tactfully to his house nearby where he violated the girl. As the victim fell unconscious, the criminal fled the scene, leaving the girl bleeding profusely, Majibar said. The victim's relatives rescued the girl unconscious from Alim's house and rushed her to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex.

Alim confessed to the crime, the OC said, adding that      the victim is now under treatment at the health complex.
