Pran founder's 3rd death anniversary today

Today is the third death anniversary of PRAN-RFL Group's founder, Amjad Khan Chowdhury.

A milad and doa mahfil will be held at the group's head office in Dhaka and factories across the country.

The visionary entrepreneur and industrialist Chowdhury passed away at the age of 75. Hailing from Natore, Chowdhury retired from Bangladesh Army in 1981 and set up a small company, Rangpur Foundry Ltd, to make irrigation pumps and expanded to tube-wells and gas stoves.

In 1991, he launched agro-processing business Pran, caning sliced pineapples at first and moving on to producing mango drinks, jams and jellies for both local and foreign consumers. Pran made its maiden export to France in 1996. The group exports to 141 countries employing around one lakh people directly.
