Giasuddin gets anticipatory bail

The High Court yesterday granted anticipatory bail to BNP leader Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury for three weeks in two separate cases.

The court also ordered Giasuddin, younger brother of executed war criminal Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury, to surrender before the trial courts concerned after three weeks.

The HC bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Md Shohrowardi granted bail to Giasuddin after hearing his two separate bail petitions.

One of the cases was filed by Fatikchhari AL General Secretary Nazim Uddin Muhuri on May 31 for threatening to kill the prime minister. Another case was filed by Md Jamaluddin, president of Fatikchhari BCL, on May 30 accusing Giasuddin of vandalising vehicles and torturing BCL men during an iftar programme.
