Road accidents kill three

At least three persons including a woman were killed and nine Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members injured in separate road accidents across the country yesterday.

In Bandarban, motorcyclist U Mong Hla, 20, was killed when his bike collided with a bus in Balaghata of Bandarban Sadar upazila, police said.

U Mong died on spot while two of his friends, were injured.

Meanwhile, nine members of BGB were injured in an accident at Laimi Para of Bandarban Sadar upazila.

The accident took place while they were on their way to Bolipara BGB camp, when their vehicle lost control and fell into a roadside ditch, reports our local correspondent.

They were hospitalised.

In Chapainawabganj, Nuresha Begum, 38, was killed when a passenger bus ran her over at Enayetpur area of Gomostapur upazila, reports our local correspondent.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gomostapur Police Station said, Nuresha Begum was a passenger in the bus. She was crushed under the wheels while she was getting off the vehilcle.

Meanwhile in Dinajpur, trolley driver Sabuj Mia, 25, son of Hafizur Rahman, was killed when a speeding BRTC bus hit him at Balapara area on Dinajpur-Rangpur highway, killing him on the spot, police quoted locals as saying.

The man was on his way to his crop field when the accident took place, police added.
