Brick kiln owner sued

Bagerhat Roads and Highways Department (RHD) filed a case against a brick kiln owner on charge of extracting soil from government acquired land beside Muniganj Bridge on Bagerhat-Chitalmari road on Saturday night.

The police also seized the excavator used for digging the soil.

For the last two days, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Moni, owner of the MBI Brick Kiln, set up near Muniganj Bridge, was illegally cutting the land with excavators on the government's acquired land.

Informed by locals, Bagerhat RHD Executive Engineer Mohammad Anisuzzaman Masud visited the area on Saturday noon, and ordered taking legal action against the brick kiln owner.

“Such soil extraction can cause serious damage to Muniganj Bridge of Bagerhat-Chitalmari road in the long run. Sub-assistant Engineer HM Sohel Hossain filed a case on behalf of the Roads and Highways Department against Mizanur Rahman, owner of the brick kiln,” the official said.

“We have recorded the case filed by RHD and seized the excavator used for digging soil beside the bridge,” said Md Mahtab Uddin, officer in charge of Bagerhat Model Police Station.
