Female blogger seeks police protection

A blogger has filed a general diary with Mohammadpur Police Station in Dhaka this afternoon seeking protection as she fears for her life.

The blogger, who writes for Bengali blog site 'Istishon', alleged that she was followed by two youths on Thursday evening on the way to Dhanmondi from her Lalmatia residence, said Jamal Uddin Mir, officer-in-charge of the police station.   

She is an activist of the anti-war criminal platform Gonojagoron Mancha.

One of her stalkers was dressed in jeans and check-shirt while the other bearded stalker was in black trousers and white shirt, according to the GD.

Talking to The Daily Star, the OC said they will take necessary measures for her security.

Unidentified assailants hacked to death Niladri Chattopadhyay Niloy, a secular blogger inside his house in the capital in broad daylight on August 7.

He had also reported being stalked by two persons before he was killed.

He was a Gonojagoron Mancha activist, and the fourth blogger to be killed this year by suspected Islamist militants.
