Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today provided instructions in social media on what to do if someone receives threats from others.

DMP published the instructions in its Facebook page.

There are two ways in which one can take action if threatened, by filing a general diary (GD) with local police station or by filing a case of undertaking, the DMP Facebook post reads.

If anyone is being threatened by any means, the person may file a GD in a local police station in this regard. The law enforcers will then take necessary steps based on the complaint, according to the post.

The person may also file a case of undertaking with the court of an executive magistrate according to Section 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure against the one who is giving the threats.

This would require the person to inform in details the name and address of the accused and the reason why s/he might be giving the threats, the post adds.
