Alf (1986–1990)

Gordon Shumway, last known survivor from the planet Melmac, crash-lands his spaceship into the Tanner family's suburban garage. Willie dubs him "ALF", short for Alien Life Form. After convincing a military officer that they are not harbouring a space creature, the Tanners decides to take ALF in as a member of the family.

ALF carries a very creative story and some very funny jokes delivered by Paul Fusco as the titular character. That is just the start of how worthy the character is. Not only is ALF one of the funniest sitcom characters ever penned on the small screen, he's also one of the most interesting and sarcastic ones. ALF always gets into trouble, chases the cat, eats everything, and irritates the wife of the household. He is always thinking about himself and putting the house in jeopardy. He also loves to be the centre of attention. By the time Alf's popularity rocketed, he had a prime time sitcom, further inspiring cartoon shows, comic book series, a film, line of toys, and even a cake pan shaped in his image! That is quite notable for a hairy little alien.

Whenever ALF is in trouble, you feel for him and you are rather invested in the character. Paul Fusco does a very good job at making this alien puppet a very likable character, giving us some very talented puppetry alongside. As for the Tanners, they are one of the most memorable sitcom families ever, peculiar in their own ways, unlike any other we usually saw back then. Although some episodes may not make you laugh as hard, nevertheless, Alf ranks as a classic must-watch. As tragic as it may sound, Michu Meszaros, the actor who gave life to the titular alien ALF, has died recently, aged 76.
