Trading at the two bourses remained closed yesterday as the government declared a public holiday for Thursday to mourn the death of President Zillur Rahman.
Dhaka Stock Exchange President Rakibur Rahman and Chittagong Stock Exchange President Al Maruf Khan expressed deep condolence at the death of the veteran politician.
“We decided to stop trading after the government had declared the holiday,” said Syed Sajid Hossain, chief executive officer of the CSE.
The 84-year-old president died at the Mount Elisabeth Hospital in Singapore on Wednesday.
