Samdani Art Foundation -- along with Japan Foundation and Spanish Embassy in New Delhi, India -- was one of the supporting partners of the Speaker's Forum at the recently held India Art Fair. Nadia Samdani, CEO of Samdani Art Foundation, took part at the talk session. The seminar was held at NSIC Exhibition Grounds, Okhla Industrial Estate in New Delhi.
At the session, titled “Collecting and its Contradictions”, Nadia spoke about her diverse collection and highlighted six works from it: Huma Mulji's “Lost and Found”, Nezaket Ekici's “Flesh -- No Pig but Pork”, Naiza Khan's “The Robe”, Naeem Mohaiemen's “Kazi in Nomansland”, Tayeba Begum Lipi's “Bizarre and the Beautiful” and Tracey Emin's “Neon”. Other speakers included Hameed Haroon (CEO, Dawn Media Group, Pakistan), Poonam Bhagat Shroff (Collector from Mumbai) and Rana Kapoor (CEO of Yes Bank). The talk was moderated by Amin Jaffer, International Director of Asian Art at Christie's.
To celebrate the first participation of Bangladesh at the India Art Fair, Samdani Art Foundation and Christie's jointly hosted a lunch in New Delhi. The lunch was attended by several Indian and International art collectors, gallerists, art critics, curators, philanthropists along with the president of Devi Art Foundation, founder of Kiran Nadar Museum, board members of Art Istanbul and representatives from Tate Modern (London), Guggenheim Museum (New York) and San Jose Museum of Art (California). At the event, Amin Jaffer mentioned the vibrant Bangladeshi art scene and assured their support towards the country's developing art scene.
