Vote for AL to keep up dev: Hasina
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday urged the people to vote for Awami League in the next general election saying that the country's ongoing development would continue only if her party was voted to power.
"BNP has gone mad to protect the war criminals. Country's development will suffer a debacle if BNP and its allies, Jamaat and Hefajat, come to power," she said.
The primer, who arrived in Narayanganj in the afternoon to inaugurate a number of development projects and lay the foundation stones of some others, was addressing a huge a public meeting at Shaheed Monju Stadium.
Hasina said BNP, Jamaat and Hefajat had already started the rehearsal in many parts of the country what they would do if they came to power.
Hasina said the politics of conspiracy had begun in Bangladesh after the killing of Bangabandhu.
The prime minister said a state of emergency was declared in the country in 2007 and a military-backed caretaker government clung to power for two years due to failure of BNP.
Pointing out her government's initiative for power generation in the private sector, she said the AL government after taking office in 1996, took first such initiative in Haripur and Meghnaghat. Earlier, the primer inaugurated a number of development projects, including 412MW combined cycle power plant, and Muktijoddha SM Majharul Haq Auditorium.
