Two men were killed in clashes over disputed land in Chuadanga and Shariatpur districts yesterday and the day before.
A man was killed and six others were injured in a clash over a piece of disputed land at Madna village in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga yesterday.
The deceased is Abul Kashem, 55, son of late Shamshuddin of the village, reports our correspondent.
Police and locals said there was a longstanding conflict between Kashem and his nephew Joynal over the land.
Yesterday morning, the men of Joynal went to the land to cut bamboo but they were resisted by the supporters of Kashem, prompting the clash.
At least seven people from both sides were seriously injured during the incident. Of them, Kashem was rushed to the upazila health complex where on duty doctors declared him dead.
In Shariatpur, a young man was killed allegedly by his elder brother following a dispute over land at Moktarerchar in Naria upazila on Friday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Motaleb Kazi, 25, son of late Abdul Hamid Kazi of the upazila.
Police said there had been a longstanding dispute between Motaleb Kazi and his brother Shahjahan Kazi over possession of a piece of ancestral land.
When Shahjahan went to the land for cultivation in the evening, Motaleb resisted him.
At this, Shahjahan hit Motaleb with a fishing spear, leaving him critically injured. Motaleb was rushed to a local hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.
