Top 5 Sushi/Sashimi places in Dhaka
The basic vinegary rice served alongside raw seafood, usually in the form of nigirizushi, makizushi or temaki is a fine Japanese cuisine, the taste of which has finally been acquired by our beloved Dhaka foodies' circuit. Long gone are the days of making sulky faces at plates of sushi.
This week we give you a rapid run through of where exactly to binge your hearts out on this particular indulgence.
5. Izumi
Starting small. Izumi might have one of the most exotic and exquisite meals to offer in town but as far as sushi is concerned there is a lot more to be desired; starting from the vital sticky texture of the rice, which is meant to hold the entire dish together. But even then, the Sushi at Izumi is always worth a try because it not only offers an out of the ordinary scallop sushi along with the usuals, but you get 8 pieces of sushi and maki rolls at Tk. 1500.
However the better, more distinguished option would be the satenmori, which comprises of 3 different kinds of imported fish. You can get 9 pieces for Tk.2000.
Special mention to the Bento box served during Ramadan. Izumi is one of the few places that hold on to quality during Ramadan and yet serve a hefty portion of Japanese iftar.

4. Sura
While in this Korean Restaurant one can truly swoon over the Sura Galbi endlessly, the sushi served here is somehow slightly underrated in comparison but just as tasty; especially the shrimp and tuna sushi, which has precisely the right amount of wasabi to set off the taste of the fish completely but not too much to override the flavours.
Since the majority of the ingredients in Sura are imported, it makes for an expensive meal which might be a bit too much for a regular customer to spend on ''raw fish'.' But combined with the very spacious and classy decor and an even more superlative ambience, this restaurant should definitely be given a shot. We believe you shall not be let down.

#3. Seasonal Tastes
This Westin buffet offers a cohesive co-habitat of quality, quantity and price for all the sushi lovers in town. For lunch and dinner there is a platter of unlimited Sushi starting from salmon to the maki rolls available, which if you actually compare with the general portion orders of sushi in other restaurants is pretty reasonable.
But for this buffet to be really worth your time and more importantly, your money, you must go and E-A-T like there is no tomorrow. A friend holds a record of 21 Sushis devoured by one person during one meal. And that same person claims that the Salmon Sushi served in Westin happens to be the best among any and all other Sushi places.
Apart from other customers giving you the evil eye as you take away all the Sushi, this is heaven.

2. Arirang
Again a Korean restaurant makes an appearance in the list of the top 5 Sushi places. This is because even while maintaining the Korean authenticity in their food, Arirang excels in their sushi department as well. Their creations will simply melt in your mouth and make you content with life.
As of now, since we're only gushing about the sushi places we can't go into the full details of how awesome Arirang food exactly is. But we have intelligent readers who will obviously know where to reserve a table for tomorrow's lunch!

1. Samdado
The unbeaten and hopefully unanimously crowned king of sushi in Dhaka. And just a by the by fact: Samdado also happens to be one of the first ''Sushi Bars'' per se in Dhaka.
The rant about how scrumptious the Samdado sushi is something that is never-ending: the spicy Salmon temaki, the shrimp temaki, the maki rolls are all excellent choices.
Everything about this place will make a true blue Japanese food lover go weak in the knees. The vital tip for anyone visiting this eatery: just order the mixed Sushi combo large to get a small taste of everything. This way, you can simply order whichever you prefer most separately next time onwards. Although the maki dishes should be ordered separately so that you can experience all the flavours.
