Three books on Zia launched

Prime Minister Khaleda Zia launched three research-based books on late President Ziaur Rahman at a ceremony at her office yesterday.

The Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) published the books under a research project on the occasion of the 22nd death anniversary of Ziaur Rahman.

The books are 'Development Initiative of President Ziaur Rahman as Reflected in Newspapers', 'Role of President Ziaur Rahman in the Signing of Farakka Treaty as Reflected in Newspapers' and 'President Zia in Improvement of International Relations as Reflected in the Newspapers'.

Information Minister Tariqul Islam and PIB Director General Dr Rezwan Siddiqui were present at the ceremony.

The information minister said the books on Zia would help others conduct further research on the great leader.

He also said the institute would publish a research book on the newspapers published during 1780-1947 period in this region.

The prime minister suggested taking initiative to conduct research on history of newspapers in Bangladesh and their reflection in society.
