Threat forces Egypt's Dhaka embassy shutdown
The embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Dhaka will remain closed for 11 days from Wednesday due to "an unspecified threat".
Police meanwhile beefed up security of the embassy, Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station, told The Daily Star.
He said the embassy on Tuesday received a letter from an unidentified sender asking for stopping "killing of Muslim Brotherhood members in Egypt".
Meanwhile, the embassy in a press release said its Consular Section will remain closed from August 21 to 31 due to some security seasons.
An official of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) said they had sent a team in the afternoon to beef up security of the embassy.
Talking to The Daily Star, Abibur Rahman, Rab's media wing director, said they have taken measures following information of issuing threat to the Egypt embassy.
