Sylhet Cadet College classes resume
SYLHET, Jan 17: Classes in the Sylhet Cadet College resumed today after over two months.
It was closed sine die on November 12, a day after the death of two boys who were run over by an iron roller in the college playground. The agitated students put up a barricade on the road in front of the college soon after the incident.
However, it was cleared after several hours. There have been allegations that the instructor treated the boys inhumanly. The adjutant and the instructor of the college were suspended on November 12. They were also attached to the School of Infantry and Tactics, Sylhet.
Two separate probe bodies were formed after the incident. Of these, a three-men court of enquiry was formed with Colonel Faruque of School of Infantry & Tactics (SI & T, Sylhet) as its chief while an internal four-men body was formed with the vice-principal of the college as its head.
Reports of both the probe bodies were submitted to the Adjutant-General of Bangladesh Army who is also the Chairman of the cadet colleges, said an official. Actions are being taken against the responsible members of the staff, said the official.
