Students besiege PS alleging rape by cop

Hundreds of students of a high school yesterday besieged the Sirajdikhan police station, demanding death sentence to a police man on charge of raping a class VI student.
Sub-inspector (SI) Zahidul Islam of the police station was arrested on Friday on rape charge at Raushunia in Sirajdikhan upazila on June 9.
Witnesses said, over a thousand students of Rajdiya Abhoy Pilot High School brought out a procession at around noon besieged the police station.
Later the protesters submitted a memorandum to the police superintendent through the OC.
Headmaster of the school Biswajit Ghosh said people become helpless when a law enforcer violates a girl. He demanded harsh punishment to the perpetrator.
Officer in-charge (OC) Abul Bashar said, SI Zahidul was suspended soon after the victim's father filed a case on Friday.
