Star Diary
Indifferent policemen
In order to reach Banani for a personal work, I took a bus from Khamarbari at Farmgate. There is a one-way road with two lanes from Khamarbari to Farmgate police box. Out of the two lanes, the left lane is used by those going to Airport Road or Gulshan. The right lane, on the other hand, is normally used for vehicles going to Motijheel or Press Club. However, most of the cars going to Motijheel or Press Club were using the left lane to avoid traffic. Ironically, this resulted in a huge traffic standstill at the lane. The police at the box, however, turned a blind eye to this and allowed the traffic situation to get worse. I don't understand why there is a police box in that place if the police can't even do their duty. If they were careful about carrying out their duties, the route would be traffic-jam free.

Stop Accusing Each Other
It seems that both the ruling and opposition parties are hurling political diatribes instead of taking appropriate measures to solve the political situation. The ruling party has been requesting the opposition for a meeting but this request is not a formal one. The opposition has long been observing hartals to meet its demand whereas the ruling party is taking a hard-line stance against them. The normal public's solemn request to the mainstream political parties is to discuss their differences as that would help the country to get rid of the current suffocating political atmosphere. We want to see a free, fair, credible and participatory election. Instead of hurling accusations at each other, the political rivals should hold dialogues to solve this situation.
