Sirajganj BNP sues 107
Over 100 people, most of them leaders and activists of Awami League (AL), Jubo League and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), have been sued on charge of attacking a procession of Sirajganj unit BNP.
Azizur Rahman, organising secretary of Sirajganj district unit BNP, filed the case on Sunday with Sirajganj Chief Judicial Magistrate Court-1 against 60 named leaders and activists of AL, Jubo League and BCL and 47 other unidentified people under the Explosive Substance Act, reports UNB.
According the case statement, some AL, Jubo League and BCL men on Saturday hurled crude bombs and brick chips from rooftop of a house on a procession of the BNP that left five BNP men, including district unit BNP president Iqbal Hasan Mahmud, injured.
Meanwhile, a Thakurgaon court yesterday sent 32 BNP men when they went to the court for seeking bail.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Saiful Islam passed the order in a crowded courtroom in presence of the accused.
The same court also granted bail of 19 other BNP activists in the case, reports our correspondent.
Former president of Thakurgaon Government College unit BCL Md Asaduzzaman Pulok filed the case on March 21 against 58 local leaders and activists of BNP on charge of obstructing people on Thakurgaon-Baliadangi road at Bhelajan village and torching and vandalising three motorbikes during the BNP enforced 36-hour hartal on 19 March.
Later investigation officer of the case and also sub-inspector of Thakurgaon police station submitted charge sheet against 51 on 28 March.
