Simanto on fresh remand
A court here yesterday sent Saleh Rahman Simanto, son of expelled Jatiya Party (JP) leader Haji Ripon, on a five-day fresh remand in connection with the murder of Tanvir Muhammad Toki.
The court granted the remand after the case investigation officer from Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) placed him before it seeking a 10-day remand.
Yousuf Hossain Liton who was arrested on July 29 in the case admitted before the court that Toki was strangled at Simanto's residence and they dumped the body in the Shitalakkya river after taking it in a boat.
