Pro-Liberation bodies urge formation of anti-militancy committees
Twenty-seven pro-Liberation organisations on Saturday urged all cultural activists to form committee against militancy and fundamentalism in all divisional cities, districts, upazilas and unions to raise public awareness about anti-liberation forces.
The organisations will hold a conference in the capital on May 3.
The organisations leaders made the call and the announcement from a press conference at Teachers and Students Centre (TSC) in Dhaka University.
They thanked people of the country to make success the 24-hour shutdown it enforced to resist the Hefajat-e Islam's long march to Dhaka.
“Though they targeted to bring 50 lakh people to Dhaka, the Hefajat-e Islam has managed only 1 lakh people because of our hartal,” said Nasiruddin Yousuf, president of Sammilito Sangskritik Jote.
