Road crashes kill 7
Seven people were killed 18 others injured in road accidents in Comilla, Madaripur, Bogra, and Noakhali on Monday and yesterday.
A correspondent from Comilla reports, three people, including a woman and her granddaughter, were killed and three others injured as a bus hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw from the opposite direction on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Govindapur area in Chandina upazila yesterday.
The deceased were Majeda Begum, 46, wife of Abdul Alim; Jannat Begum, 3, her granddaughter, of Garcher village in Burichang upazila; and Masud Miah, 23, the auto-rickshaw driver of the same village.
Moynamoti Highway Police sergeant Amor Chandra Pal said the trio died on the spot around 2:45pm.
The injured were admitted to Chandina Upazila Health Complex.
Our Madaripur correspondent reports, a fish trader was killed as a bus hit him on Dhaka- Barisal highway in Samaddar area in Sadar upazila early yesterday.
The victim was Abul Kalam Mridha, 40, son of late Rupai Mridha of Mahsudsi village in the upazila.
Police and locals said the accident occurred around 6:00am as the bus driver lost control over the steering.
Sadar police seized the bus but its driver and helper managed to flee.
Our Jhenidah correspondent adds, a helper of passenger bus was killed and at least nine others injured when a Khulna-bound bus collided with a truck from behind on Jhenidah-Kushtia highway near Kulchara village in Soilakupa upazila of Jhenidah yesterday morning.
The dead was Korban Ali, 35, of Chourhas colony in Kushtia.
The injured were rushed to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital.
Our Bogra correspondent reports, the headmaster of Kanchonpur Government Primary School, was killed and his wife injured as a coach hit them while they were crossing the Bogra-Naogaon highway in Choumuhoni Bazar area of Dupchanchia upazila in Bogra Monday evening.
The deceased was Joyanto Kumar Kundo, 50.
Locals rushed him to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical Collage and Hospital where the attending doctor declared him died early yesterday.
Our Noakhali correspondent adds, Palash Chandra Ghosh, 26, was killed and five others were injured as a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Banglabazar in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali yesterday.
