Rana Plaza survivor Reshma recovers, gets Westin job
Reshma, who survived under the Rana Plaza rubble for 17 days, will be discharged from Savar's Combined Military Hospital today, Lt Col Kazi Iftekhar-ul-Alam, general staff officer-1, military intelligence, Army Headquarters, told The Daily Star yesterday.
Moreover, the seamstress is being provided a job as Public Area Ambassador in Housekeeping Department by the Westin hotel.
Reshma, rescued on May 10, wowed the nation and the world after surviving with just a packet of biscuits and some water. The nine-storey Rana Plaza, which housed five garment factories, a shopping mall and a bank, collapsed on April 24, claiming 1,131 lives.
The hotel's Head of Marketing Mostofa Noor-E-Safa said, “It's a permanent job. Considering her knowledge and expertise, we have appointed her in this position.” Initially, Reshma will be trained for two to three months.
The hotel authorities will hold a press conference today to provide further details.
