Prodhan out on bail
Jatiya Ganatantrik Party chief Shafiul Alam Prodhan was released on bail from a Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur on Friday.
On Thursday, the High Court granted six months’ bail to six opposition leaders, including Prodhan, accused of attacking police on March 11 near BNP’s central office in the capital’s Naya Paltan.
Other accused are opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque, BNP’s joint secretary generals Amanullah Aman and Rizvi Ahmed and leaders of the main opposition Shahjahan and ZM Zahid Hossain.
The HC bench granted bail only to Pradhan in both the cases, filed with Paltan Police Station hours after police raided BNP’s central office following explosions in an opposition rally at Naya Paltan on March 11.
The bench of Justice Quamrul Islam Siddiqui and Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hosain passed split orders on the bail petitions filed by Farroque, Aman and Rizvi in the cocktail blast case.
