Police sue 111 BNP, Jamaat-Shibir activists in Bogra
A case has been filed against 111 BNP and Jamaat-Shibir men on charge of killing a truck driver in the town during BNP-led 18-party alliance's daylong hartal across the country on Tuesday.
The accused include Masud Rana, president of town unit Jubo Dal and Harun-ur-Rashid Saju, pro-BNP commissioner of ward no-16 in the municipality.
Miladun Nabi, sub-inspector at Sadar police station, filed the case against 41 named and 70 unnamed activists on Tuesday night, said officer in-charge Sayeed Shahid Alam.
Of the accused, Mamun, 30, Ekram Ali, 40, and Mostafizur Rahman alias Mosharraf, 38, were arrested, said Nabi, also the investigation officer of the case.
Father of an eight-year-old boy, trucker Shahidul Islam Khokon was killed by pickets when he was coming with his goods-laden vehicle through the district from Dinajpur in the early morning during the shutdown. The deceased hailed from the town.
He was buried in the evening without postmortem as his of family and the members of Truck Labour Union, Bogra opposed autopsy, said the OC.
Following the order of additional district magistrate Mohammd Hossain, police handed khokon's body to the family members without autopsy, he said.
