Weavers bring the jamdani saris they make to the Rupganj BSCIC ground in Narayanganj every Thursday to sell to traders. Each of the two or three saris a weaver makes in a week is auctioned between Tk 3,000 and Tk 60,000. Their product may be pricy and in high demand ahead of Eid but they only get Tk 2,000 a week in wages. Weavers say high prices of yarn and a syndicate of traders affect their earnings.
