Nor’wester lashes capital
A nor’wester lashed the capital Dhaka and some other parts of the country early Monday.
Beginning around 12:30am, the nor’wester accompanied by moderate rainfall swept Dhaka.
People from some parts of the capital, including Agargaon and Dhanmondi, reported a moderate hailstorm.
The wind whizzed nearly 59 kilometers per hour on average across Dhaka while it reached about 90km/hr near Shahjalal International Airport, said meteorological office.
The average rainfall in the capital was 23 millimetre, according to the Met office. The storm also hit two other districts – Tangail and Sylhet.
The Met officials predict that another nor’wester may sweep across 11 districts within 15 hours from 2:00pm Monday.
The districts are Tangail, Mymensingh, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Faridpur, Dhaka, Comilla, Noakhali and Sylhet.
The officials said the country sees nor’wester mostly during the month of April.
