No bleeding in my heart: Deputy Speaker

Deputy Speaker M Shawkat Ali on Monday said in parliament that there is no bleeding in his heart.

“In my heart, there’s no bleeding. I even checked it through my son who is a doctor. He also confirmed it,” he said.

The Deputy Speaker, who was presiding over the House, came up with the remark in a smiling mood apparently responding to BNP lawmaker Rehana Akhtar Ranu’s claim made in the House on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday, Ranu in her speech said the deputy speaker had dreamt of becoming the Speaker but his dream was shattered.

She also claimed that there was bleeding in the Deputy Speaker’s heart for that reason. Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was in the chair when Ranu made the remark on Sunday in the House.
