Mohiuddin remains at Ctg AL helm

Awami League President Sheikh Hasina approved a 71-member full-fledged committee of Chittagong Metropolitan unit of the party yesterday, seven years after the previous committee had been formed.
AL leaders ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury has been selected as president and AZM Nasir Uddin as general secretary for the unit.
The last council of Chittagong city unit of AL was held on June 27, 2006 and a two-member committee was formed.
Mohiuddin was selected as president and Kazi Enamul Haque Danu as general secretary of the committee at that time.
According to the AL constitution, the tenure of a committee will be three years.
The post of general secretary had fallen vacant after the death of Danu on September 22 this year, and Mohiuddin became the sole leader of the two-member committee.
The Daily Star in its November 1 report mentioned that the AL would soon announce its Chittagong city unit naming Mohiuddin and Nasir as president and general secretary.
Meanwhile, the AL chief also approved the full-fledged committee of Madaripur district unit of the party.
Shahabuddin Ahmed Mollah has been made the unit's president while Kajol Krishna its general secretary.
