Mercury drops to new low

Temperature dropped to a new low this winter yesterday. Mercury slid to 3.4 degrees Celsius from Wednesday's 4.3 in Rajshahi, the coldest place so far in the country. Although the capital witnessed several hours of sunshine yesterday, mercury went down to 8.1 from 8.3.

The cold wave is like to continue for 24 hours more, said a weathercast.

Mild to thick fog may cover the northern parts of the country and moderate to severe cold waves may hit Rajshahi, Khulna and Dhaka divisions.

Zia International Airport sources said only two flights landed two hours behind schedule.
