Man arrested with fake notes

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday informed that, on information, they arrested an alleged member of a gang which produces fake currency in the capital's Demra and seized around Tk 18 lakh in counterfeit bank notes and materials for the production of fake bills.
Md Rabbi, 23, was arrested with nearly Tk 4 lakh in forged currency in his possession in Demra on Monday around 5:00pm, Rab-10 Commanding Officer Lt Col Imran Ibn Rouf told a press briefing.
Information gleaned from Rabbi led to the discovery of around Tk 14 lakh in fake notes in a room in Shishu Market area of Narayanganj's Fatulla around 10:00pm. The other gang members fled the scene sensing their presence, he said.
The materials, including four printers, one laptop, four CDs and watermarks, could be used to produce Tk 12 crore in counterfeit notes, said Rab, adding that gangs like these were active especially in the run-up to Eid.
