Liton on 7-day remand
A Narayanganj court yesterday placed Yusuf Hossain Liton on a seven-day remand in a case filed over killing Toki in the district.
Judge Zadib Hossain of Narayanganj Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court passed the order after Rapid Action Battalion had produced him before the court seeking a 12-day remand.
Earlier on July 29, police arrested Liton from Chorargop area. Liton, in his statement before a Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court, confessed that Toki was strangled at Simanto's residence and they dumped the body in the river Shitalakkya after taking it in a boat.
Tanvir Mohammad Toki, son of former president of Narayanganj Sangskritik Jote Rafiur Rabbi, was found dead on the bank of the Shitalakkhya river on March 8, two days after he had gone missing.
On March 20, Rafiur submitted a written complaint to Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Syed Nurul Islam, accusing seven people including former Awami League lawmaker Shamim Osman and his son Ayon Osman for the murder.
