Lightning kills four
At least four people were killed as lightning struck them in Satkhira, Manikganj and Faridpur districts yesterday.
Two youths were killed as lightning struck them in a canal in Tala upazila of Satkhira yesterday, reports our correspondent.
The deceased were identified as Sahabuddin Mahaldar, 25, son of Babar Ali Mahaldar, and Siddique Biswas, 30, son of Khorshed Biswas of Bhaira.
Locals said, lightning struck the duo while they were catching fish in Dodhishara canal, leaving Sahabuddin and Khorshed dead on the spot.
In Manikganj, lightning killed an elderly farmer at noon yesterday.
The deceased was Rafik Hossain, 55, son of Tojimuddin of Alinagar village under Sadar upazila, reports our correspondent.
Rafik was seriously injured by lightning at around 12:00pm while working at a field.
Locals and family members took him to Manikganj Sadar Hospital where he died after some time.
In Faridpur, lightning killed a housewife at Shoildubi village under Krishnapur union in Sadarpur upazila yesterday, reports our correspondent.
The dead was identified as Taslima Begum, 28, wife of expatriate Monir Sheikh.
Locals said, a lightning struck Taslima while she was working at the veranda of her hut during rain at around 10:00am, killing her on the spot.
