Killers of Kazi Aref roaming around AL
DAULATPUR, Kushtia, Jan 26: Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Khaleda Zia accused the government of patronising terrorists to shield its power, saying the killers of Kazi Aref are roaming around the ruling party, reports UNB.
She said the people are united behind the BNP, since there is no alternative to the main opposition for the country's development. "The AL government has failed to implement its election pledges."
The BNP chief said these while addressing a mammoth public meeting at Mathura People's Degree College ground in Daulatpur thana yesterday afternoon.
We want the trial of Kazi Aref killers. But actions are not being taken against the real killers. We know the real killers remain close to the Awami League."
Kazi Aref and several party colleagues were shot dead in Daulatpur last February.
The BNP chief said the ruling party patronises terrorism and corruption instead of thinking about the welfare of the people.
She said the government failed to fulfil its commitment to farmers, teachers and others. The government was busy signing agreements.
Such as Ganges Water Sharing Treaty with India and the CHT peace treaty with tribal insurgents, against the interests of the country and the constitution.
Khaleda said the government is liar and betrayer. "It has not kept its word for the last three and half years."
She said the economic backbone has been shattered, while law and order worsened. "Life and property and the country's independence and sovereignty are not safe under this government."
Khaleda said the opposition parties would force the government resign and hand over power to a caretaker government for early general elections.
She said the winds of change are gradually sweeping over Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Dhaka and across the country. Sensing its power base is being shaken by the movement, the ruling party is offering to hold talks.
She reiterated her determination not to hold any dialogue with the AL government. "They don't keep their word....They are betrayers."
