'No constitutional change needed for interim govt'
Law Minister Shafique Ahmed said Monday that there is no need of bringing any constitutional amendments for discussion on the structure of an interim government which will oversee the next parliamentary election.
Political parties can hold dialogues to determine the structure of the interim government, Shafique said after attending the inaugural session of a Saarc conference on money laundering and terrorist financing at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in the capital.
Insisting that the 10th general election will be held under an interim government, the minister said the incumbent Election Commission, "which is performing its duties properly", will conduct the polls.
Asked about the recent arrest of militants in several parts of the country, the law minister said some organisations are carrying out terrorist and militant activities in the country in Taliban style.
Stern actions will be taken against the organisations involved in such activities, he said.
The Counter Terrorism Bureau of the US State Department and US Department of Justice have organised the three-day conference on 'Saarc Regional Judicial Conference on Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing'.
