Shabur laid to rest

Awami League lawmaker Golam Shabur Tulu, who was killed in a road accident on Friday, was laid to eternal rest at Banani Graveyard in the city on Saturday.
The body of the Barguna-2 MP was taken back to Dhaka in a helicopter after a namaz-e-janaza at KN Secondary School in Patharghata upazila of Barguna Saturday afternoon.
He was buried at the Banani Graveyard in the city around 4:30pm, said family sources.
Earlier in the afternoon, a namaz-e-janaza of late Shabur was held at the tunnel of Parliament.
President Abdul Hamid took part in the janaza.
The president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid their homage by placing a wreath on the coffin of Shabur.
Deputy Speaker Shawkat Ali, on behalf the Speaker, also placed a wreath on the coffin of Shabur while Opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque placed wreath on behalf of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Parliament members, political leaders, elite, and officers and employees of parliament secretariat also joined the janaza.
Awami League MP Golam Shabur Tulu was killed in a road accident on the Dhaka-Barisal highway at Chumurdia in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur Friday.
Earlier, the prime minister expressed her sympathy to Sultana Nadira Begum, wife of Shabur, and their three daughters and asked them to have patience in this time of mourning.
Deputy Leader of parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury and Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury were, among others, present.
