Jamuna Future Park opens

Jamuna Future Park, one of the largest shopping malls in the country, started its journey yesterday with the opening of the fifth floor designed for recreational activities.
The floor covers a children's theme park, gymnasium, health club, two separate swimming pools for men and women, spacious exhibition halls, banquet halls, and international standard cineplex with seven individual halls, among others.
Inaugurating the shopping centre as chief guest, Home Minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir said such an initiative would enhance the country's image before the world.
He hoped that the complex would meet people's shopping and entertainment needs.
Jamuna Group claims that the shopping mall is the largest in Asia and third largest in the world, according to the website of Jamuna Future Park.
The centrally air-conditioned shopping complex has nine floors. The lower and middle basement floors are reserved as the parking facility with a 5,000-car capacity. Housed between the ground floor and the fifth floor are atriums, centre for live entertainment, local and international brand shops, non-branded shops, bank space, online booths and food courts.
Jamuna Group Chairman Nurul Islam Babul said the complex would stand as a symbol of national pride, prestige, progress and economic development of the country.

The Jamuna Future Park complex sits on a total land area of 41 lakh square feet, with 16 lakh square feet used for shopping space. It is located in Kuril on the Progoti Sarani, neighbouring the capital's posh residential areas like Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, and Bashundhara.
The construction of the complex started in 2002. The Jamuna croup chairman hoped that the entire complex would be fully operational by next three months.
