Immediate reclamation of Askar Dighi in Ctg demanded

Residents of Jamal Khan area in Chittagong city yesterday demanded that Askar Dighi, a historic water-body of the city, be reclaimed and made free from grabbing immediately.
They raised the demand at a human chain programme in front of Chittagong Press Club.
They also demanded recovery of the body of schoolboy Johny, who is suspected to be drowned in the dighi on Wednesday while playing.
Children can play on the surface of the water-body filled with water hyacinth, which is dangerous, they said.
The water of the dighi could not be used as no step to remove the water hyacinth was taken, they added.
Md Sahabuddin, father of Jhony, and former ward councillor MA Naser among others were present at the programme.
