HIID Director lauds current economic reform
The visiting Director of Harvard International Institute of Development (HIID) Prof Jeffrey Sachf yesterday appreciated the current economic reforms and privatization process in Bangladesh, reports UNB.
His observation came when he called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganobhaban yesterday morning.
Prof Sachf, however, suggested that privatization should be quickened in certain sectors.
He expressed his happiness over on-going development projects in the country.
Referring to the Asian currency turmoil, the professor said due to prudent management of the government, Bangladesh was not affected by the crisis.
Welcoming Prof Sachf, the Prime Minister informed him of government's initiatives and development programmes for a sound national economy and welfare of the poor people.
Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr S A Samad and Finance Secretary Dr Akbar Ali Khan were present.'
