Hefajat-e-Islam on Thursday threatened to launch a non-stop shutdown from April 7, if the 24-hour hartal called by different pro-liberation organisations to resist its Dhaka long march is not withdrawn.
The leaders of Hefajat, a so-called Islamist organisation instrumental to counter the Shahbagh movement initiated by the bloggers, gave the threat during separate press briefings held in the capital and Chittagong simultaneously against the backdrop of the 24-hour hartal called by different pro-liberation organisations.
Twenty-four pro-liberation organisations Wednesday night called a countrywide 24-hour hartal from 6:00pm Friday to resist Hefajat’s Dhaka long march on Saturday.
